Facilities at Middlewick Cottages

Heated Indoor Swimming Pool & Steam Room

The Swimming Pool is accessed off the main courtyard at Middlewick.

Open from 8am our heated pool is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day, either on your own, or with the rest of your group or family. Use of the pool is free for all guests staying at Middlewick Holiday Cottages and Glamping. For safety reasons we do ask that children under 18 are supervised at all times as there is no lifeguard on duty. Closing times for the pool vary depending on the time of year. The pool is 4′ deep, and approximately 9m x 5m. Heated to approximately 30°C it is lovely and warm to .

A steam room that will accommodate 6 people is accessed via the pool room and again is free to use by those staying at Middlewick.

The swimming pool is heated by our Bio-Mass boilers.

Dog Friendly Cottages…

Since we made Middlewick dog friendly we have had lots of 4 legged visitors come to stay. Kindly, they also brought their owners and the rest of their family, and so far so good – everyone has had a good time at Middlewick. Springfield, Pippin, the Annex, Tor View, Cabin and our E-dens are our dog friendly cottages.

Enjoying Somerset’s Finest Foods in our Farm Shop

Part of the pleasure of a stay in an area such as this is making the most of local food. Somerset is blessed with plenty of high quality artisan producers and we do our best to support them.

Middlewick has a small but well stocked shop on site selling some of the basics that you might need when staying. Our produce is local and organic as much as possible. We sell our own home raised pork, Middlewick eggs, beautiful honey from one of our neighbouring farms, apple juice from orchards close by, homemade chutneys and preserves.  See our product list . You can also choose to order our breakfast boxes, either when making your reservation, or by phoning a few days before you arrive.

For a more extensive selection, enjoy the wonderful quality and flavour of locally produced and organic foods delivered to your door by Somerset Local Food Direct.

Pizza Oven

At the centre of the Middlewick Complex we have a wonderful wood burning Pizza oven.

During the spring and summer holidays (normally on either a Wednesday or Thursday night) we host informal pizza nights for our guests , so do come and join us. We will let you know when you arrive if this is happening. We provide homemade pizza dough and do the cooking. All you need to bring along, other than your family, are toppings to share. You then make your own pizza which will be cooked by Hannah our resident pizza chef and pizza dough maker. We ask that you make a contribution (£5 per adult, £2.50 for children under 7) to my charity fund raising for the British Skin Foundation – ‘Dough for Dough’

If you are staying as a large group or holding a special event, retreat or business meeting at Middlewick we can put on a pizza evening (or lunch for you). For details and pricing please contact our office.

It is always a fun evening!

Breakfast in a box

As well as our wonderfully stocked on site shop we also offer the option of ordering one of our delicious breakfast boxes when you book – full of lovely local produce… We have two options;

  • Traditional English Breakfast Box with local sausage, bacon, free range eggs from our chickens, Somerset butter, milk and bread.
  • Continental Breakfast box with muesli made in the Somerset Quantock Hills, local milk, bread, butter, and Jam

Please order our breakfast boxes when booking or in advance of arrival to avoid disappointment.

Facilities in our Cottages

All cottages are self contained with fully equipped kitchens. The larger cottages have washing machines and dishwashers.  There is also a communal laundry room with tumble dryer. Our cottages have flat screen LED TV’s and DVD players. Wi-Fi is available in the cottages.

Bedding and towels are provided although you may want to bring a swimming towel if you plan to use the pool.

All our cottages benefit from full central heating; the majority being heated from our Bio Mass Heating System. Meadow Barn, the Annex and Tor View also benefit from natural wood burning stoves for atmosphere and/or heating.  Logs, kindling and firelighters can be purchased from our shop. The E-Dens and the Cabin are kept cosy with electric heating.

The complex is away from the road and has ample private on-site parking so there is very little passing traffic.

We have an Webber charcoal BBQ for guests to use. BBQ charcoal is available to purchase from our shop. We do ask that BBQ’s are on our communal front lawn.

Library, DVD & Board Games

In the lobby to our Function Room there is a book, DVD and games library. As well as lots of contemporary and children’s titles we also have a wide selection of Spiritual, Mystical and Magical titles which reflect on the special nature of the area, and the wide variety of people drawn towards Glastonbury through the ages.

Our selection of DVD’s and board games are suitable for both children and adults.
